Small town on the border of Wales and England's paradise for book lovers

If the tourists visiting the country United Kingdom, it will usually focused to visit several major cities there, such as London, Manchester or Edinburgh.

Rarely think to visit the small towns in the country, even though a lot of history or uniqueness that can be explored from a visit to the small towns.

I'll tell you about my short visit to two small town located on the border of Wales and England, the city of Hay-on-Wye (Wales) and Hereford (England). Wales and England are two of the four regions in the country of United Kingdom.

Two other areas are Scotland and Northern Ireland. A little note, in the region of Wales, still commonly found people who speak Welsh, a language which is quite confusing for me because the writing is fulfilled, and the pronunciation of consonants that much different from English.

For example, Wales in the Welsh language is called "Cymru" (read: re khem). When it is in the region of Wales, get ready as well when having to hear the locals speaking English with a thick Welsh accent, which could make me confused trying to guess what is going to be said by the local residents.

However, the population of Wales is very friendly to newcomers. City of Hay-on-Wye (or in the Welsh language is called "Y Gelli Gandrell") located on the outskirts of the river Wye, in Wales with the border area of Herefordshire in England.

The city is famous as a city of books. Most stores in the city is the bookstore. In fact, rubble stone palace in the city was used as a row of shops, including a used book store is given the name "The Honesty Bookshop".

All used books are sold at The Honesty Bookshop valuable only 1 pound or less than 1 pound.

It is unique from this bookstore is not the officer guarding. Each visitor who buys used books are welcome to put money into the box provided on the front of the store.

Once satisfied to explore downtown Hay-on-Wye are not too big, I visited the city of Hereford in Herefordshire area that can be reached in less than 40 minutes from the town of Hay-on-Wye.

One prominent tourist attraction of the city is Hereford Cathedral Hereford. Here are stored one copy of the Magna Carta.

Inside the cathedral can also be seen first world map (Mappa Mundi) made by experts who live in the middle ages. Interesting to observe how the Mappa Mundi is an expert interpretation of this world rather than a true picture of the world.
